This Saturday there will be seven live jumps races broadcast on ITV, four from Sandown and three from Wincanton. Sandown are holding their Veterans’ Chase Day, Wincanton’s opening fixture of the year has been named Saver Saturday.

Sandown’s opening meeting of the new year will have four races televised on ITV racing. The 2m4f Read Nicky Henderson’s Weekly Unibet Blog Handicap Chase opens the show with Dan Skelton’s Etalon heading the market despite a disappointing start to the season. He was seventh in a strong renewal of the Maghull Novices’ Chase back in April and winning at Sandown in February.
An open looking mares’ hurdle is followed by the big betting heat of the day, the £100k Unibet Veterans’ Handicap Chase. Joe Tizzard’s Copperhead and Eldorado Allen are joined at the head of the market by Anthoney Honeyball’s Sam Brown who will saddle top weight. The fourth and final race will be the 2m Free Bet With Unibet’s Betbuilder Rebound Handicap Hurdle.
Wincanton’s first live race is a wide open handicap hurdle over 1m7f. Second is the Unibet Middle Distance Veterans’ Handicap Chase, worth over £13k to winning connections. Nocye Volatus for Tom Lacey heads the betting ahead of Stormy Flight, Le Ligerien, top weight Quel Destin and Red Rookie. Wincanton’s final televised contest is the Unibet More Extra Place Races Handicap Hurdle.
