Saturday Racing Tips for 24th May 2025 (Haydock, Goodwood, Beverley & Curragh)

ITV racing will have coverage from Haydock, Goodwood, Beverley and the Curragh this Saturday will a total of ten races to be televised.

  • 2:45 Beverley: bet365 Two Year Old Trophy EBF Conditions Stakes – Old Is Gold @ 5/2
  • 3:00 Haydock: Betfred Sandy Lane Stakes – Symbol Of Honour @ 3/1

Five of the ten live races on Saturday will come from Merseyside as Haydock Park holds their Temple Stakes Day. Coverage starts with the Hell Nook Handicap before the Betfred Silver Bowl Handicap, a class 2 race worth £100k. The Listed Hedge Of Oaks Stakes is next before the most valuable races of the meeting in the Sandy Lane Stakes and the Temple Stakes itself, both of which are Group 2s worth £125k.

Charlie Appleby has had a flying start to the season and saddles the favourite for the 6f Sandy Lane Stakes in Symbol Of Honour, ahead of Michael Appleby’s Big Mojo and Adrian Murray’s Arizona Blaze. The 5f Temple Stakes looks as competitive as ever with five runners currently at single figure odds. Palace House Stakes winner Rumstar is shading favouritism for Jonathan Portman ahead of Ed Walker’s Mgheera, Jim Goldie’s American Affair, Ralph Beckett’s Startlust and Kevin Ryan’s Washington Heights.

The two live races from Goodwood will be the £100k Harroways Handicap over 7f and the Listed Height Of Fashion Stakes over 1m2f. Televised from Beverley will be two 5f contests in the Hilary Needler Trophy and the bet365 Two Year Old Trophy.

The first Irish Classic of the season, the Tattersalls Irish 2,000 Guineas from the Curragh, will be the final televised race of the day. Having finished as the runner-up in the Newmarket 2,000 Guineas, John and Thady Gosden’s Field Of Gold is the favourite to make amends on Saturday. Amongst the other contenders are Harry Charlton’s Cosmic year who won the King Charles II Stakes at Newmarket, the Aidan O’Brien duo of Officer and Expanded and Jessica Harrington’s Hotazhell who defeated Derby second favourite Delacroix in last year’s Futurity Trophy Stakes.
