There are seven races televised on ITV this Saturday, five from York and two from Goodwood.
It is the fourth and final day of York’s Ebor Festival, with the Group 3 Strensall Stakes opening proceedings. Owen Burrows and Jim Crowley teamed up to win this in 2022 with Alflaila and they have the favourite this year in Alyanaabi who was fifth in the 2000 Guineas in May.
The big race of the day, the Ebor Handicap, will be shown as the penultimate live contest at 3:35. This ultra-competitive staying handicap was won last year by Willie Mullins’ Absurde and the Irish trainer is looking to follow that success this year with Hipop De Loire. Also from York ITV will show the Melrose Handicap, the City Of York Stakes and the Constantine Handicap.
Goodwood chips in with two live races this week, The Group 3 Prestige Fillies’ Stakes and the Group 2 Celebration Mile. John & Thady Gosden’s Lead Artist heads the betting in the Celebration Mile after victory at Glorious Goodwood earlier this month.
