The ITV cameras will be at Ayr and Newbury this Saturday, with a total of nine live races between the two courses.
There will be five live races from Ayr on their Gold Cup Day. An opening 1m handicap is followed by the Doonside Cup. The Silver Cup, a consolation race for runner missing out on entry to the Gold Cup is the fifth televised race of the day with Scotland’s only Group race, the Firth Of Clyde stakes, the penultimate televised race from the Scottish track.
The best is saved for last with the Gold Cup bringing a close to the ITV coverage for the day. This is one of the most valuable sprint handicaps in Europe, with a total prize pot of £180,000. Karl Burke is a two-winner of this race and saddles three runners including this season’s Bunbury Cup runner-up, Lethal Levi.
Newbury’s International Weekend will have four live races on Saturday. The Group 3 World Trophy is followed by two valuable handicaps. The Autumn Cup over 1m 5½f and the Dubai Duty Free Handicap over 1m2f. The two-year-old sprinters take centre stage for the last of the televised racing from Berkshire for the latest renewal of the Group 2 Mill Reef Stakes.
