Saturday is the final day of the Cambridgeshire Meeting and ITV will be in Suffolk to cover four races from Newmarket alongside two races from Haydock at their Summer Season Finale.
- 1:50 Newmarket: Tattersalls Online Royal Lodge Stakes – Action @ 7/2
- 2:05 Haydock: Ambassador Cruise Line Handicap – All Ways Glamorous @ 13/2
- 2:25 Newmarket: Tattersalls Sceptre Sessions Cheveley Park Stakes – True Love @ 4/1
- 3:00 Newmarket: Tattersalls Middle Park Stakes – Wise Approach @ Evens
- 3:15 Haydock: Oddschecker Handicap – El Matador @ 7/1
- 3:40 Newmarket: bet365 Cambridgeshire – Fort George @ 10/1
The live action starts with Newmarket’s Royal Lodge Stakes, a Group 2 for two-year-old colts and geldings. George Boughey’s Bow Echo sits at the top of the market having won both his starts, including the Listed Ascendant Stakes earlier in the month. Aidan O’Brien has won this race seven times and saddles Action and Daytona in this year’s race.
A 5f sprint handicap at Haydock is next with Rod Millman’s Woolhampton seeking at hat-trick and is favourite to do so. All Ways Glamourous for Christopher Mason is weighted to go close after finishing second to Woolhampton last time out.
Ed Walker’s Royal Fixation heads the betting for the Cheveley Park Stakes after winning the Lowther Stakes at York last month. A pair of Aidan O’Brien runners follow in Beautify and True Love. The latter was beaten as the 1/4 favourite in the Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh in August but was found to have mild lameness.
The Middle Park Stakes follows with Charlie Appleyby’s Wise Approach strongly fancied to take the spoils having finished a close third behind Venetian Sun and Gstaad in the Prix Morny at Deauville.
A 1m handicap at Haydock is the penultimate live race before the most interesting betting heat of the day, the Cambridgeshire at Newmarket. Vying for favouritism are Simon and Ed Crisford’s Treble Tree who won a class 2 handicap at the St Leger meeting and John and Thady’s Gosden’s Fifth Column who won the Mile Handicap at the Ebor meeting.
Just behind those two is another Gosden runner in Westridge who won the Chesterfield Cup at Goodwood and Fort George who won well in handicap company at Newbury in his last race. There is currently 24 runners set to go to post in what should be a hugely competitive renewal of this famous race.
