The televised racing kicks-off with a Premier Handicap and the European Breeders’ Fund Betfair “National Hunt” Novices’ Handicap Hurdle Final at Sandown. Olly Murphy’s Scorpio Rising should head the betting having won three out of three this season, all with Sean Bowen on board. Joel Parkinson & Sue Smith’s Get On George was pulled up in the Grade River Don Novices’ Hurdle last time out but could prove a big price as an each way option.
The first live race at Wolverhampton will be a 6f handicap. Tony Carroll’s Cinque Verde was last seen at Newmarket in September when finishing just under two lengths off the winner in a Premier Fillies’ Handicap. She has three wins under her belt at the track and has Oisin murphy booked in the saddle.
Sandown’s feature is next with the Imperial Cup Handicap Hurdle. Neil King’s Rubber Ball bounced back with a win last week at Newbury when dropped back to 2m½f and is our each way pick despite the quick turnaround.
Andrew Balding’s Regal Ulixes won comfortably over 1m2f last Friday at Lingfield and is our pick for Wolverhampton’s Lincoln Trial. The drop back to 1m½f shouldn’t inconvenience him and Andrew Balding has two wins in his last three runners at the course.
Keep an eye out for any market moves in Sandown’s Listed National Hunt flat race for mares. Max Comley Burds Of A Feather looked like she might be a complicated character but her 19 length win at Warwick in February was hugely impressive.
Wolverhampton’s Listed Lady Wulfruna Stakes will be the penultimate ITV race of the day. Marco Botti’s Prince Of India was last on the track in October when a disappointing eighth as favourite for Ascot’s Group 3 Bengough Stakes on the turf. He was badly hampered against the rail on the run in however and is a course and distance winner.
Gary and Josh Moore’s Invincible Nao has a decent record around Sandown so is our pick for the last live race of the day, an open looking 3m handicap chase.
