It is Weatherbys Super Sprint Day at Newbury with ITV televising four races from the Berkshire course with the Listed Steventon Stakes set to be the first live race of the day. Last year’s John Smith’s Cup winner, Enfijaar, heads the betting for Roger Varian, just ahead of Okeechobee for Harry Charlton and Charlie Appleby’s Ancient Wisdom.

The 2m½f BetVictor Handicap is next before the Group 3 Hackwood Stakes over 6f. The big race of the day at Newbury is the Weatherbys Super Sprint which will be the penultimate live race on Saturday. This unique race sees a maximum field of 25 runners take to the track in a 5f sprint. Entrants are restricted to those purchased for less than £65,000 with weight applied according to that sale price. Eve Johnson Houghton’s Havana Hurricane is the strong favourite after winning the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot last month.

Summer Plate Day at Market Rasen is one of the summer jump racing program’s more valuable meetings and ITV will be showing three races on the day live. A handicap hurdle over 2m4½f is followed by the £60k Summer Handicap Hurdle over 2m½f. The final televised race from Lincolnshire on Saturday will be the Summer Plate, a Premier Handicap chase over 2m5½f which carries a prize fund of £100,000 this year.

The final live ITV race of the day will be the Irish Oaks from the Curagh. Aidan O’Brien’s Minnie Hauk is long odds-on to follow up her win in the Epsom Oaks back at the start of June. The main challenger looks to be Joseph O’Brien’s Wemightakedlongway who was 5¼ lengths back in fourth behind Minnie Hauk at Epsom.
